OUR
ROOTS IN SWISS PRECISION
George
L. Droz started Specialty Screw Machine Products, Inc. in 1936.
Droz first came to America from Switzerland to lend his
expertise as a master watchmaker and experience working hands-on
with precision parts to the Hamilton Watch Company in Lancaster,
Pennsylvania. From there, he originally established Specialty in New
York City and, using Swiss-type lathes, began manufacturing small,
precision parts for various instruments, watches and meters.
From the beginning, Specialty endeavored to make demanding
parts to exacting customer specifications -- and to deliver them
when promised.

SPECIALTY
COMES HOME TO LANCASTER
Droz
recognized that precision pieces such as the ones made by Specialty
then and now are possible only when caring, skilled and motivated
individuals operate the machines. Droz found these qualities in the
people of Lancaster, and moved his business from New York to a
second-floor location in the city in 1938. That year, Specialty
employed about 20 people. Two years later in 1940, Droz moved his
business to the site it still occupies today.During
World War II, Specialty earned several, coveted Army-Navy "E
Awards" for exceptional performance on the production front.
The now converted entrance guardhouse still evokes that era,
when the demand for parts for airplane instruments spurred rapid
growth for Specialty.

OUR
COMMITMENT ENDURES
Through
the years -- and through new generations of Droz leadership --
Specialty has remained committed to producing the finest
precision-machined parts. Specialty has added additional Swiss-type
machines, new technologies and carefully trained staff to remain
leaders in specialized, high-precision manufacturing.
